I Tresori di Shari - The Venice edition

I see your point — you could argue, as our friend Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer writes in Grand Hotel Europa (one of my favorite books), that Venice has become more of a tourist attraction. But for me, Venice remains the most beautiful city in the world. The first time I stepped into the city, walking from the train station, I was completely stunned. The crystal-clear canals and grand palazzos — it was like nothing I had ever seen before.

It probably helped that my first visit to Venice was in 2020, during Covid, when the city was quieter. But even after returning twice since then, my love for Venice has only grown stronger.

My tip: visit in winter. The city has a mystical charm at that time, and with fewer tourists, it feels even more magical. Plus, you could easily combine it with a ski trip to the Dolomites, which are just a two-hour drive away.

I've put together a list of my favorite spots in Venice, and I hope you’ll enjoy them!

TO STAY

  1. The Townhouse
  2. Venice Venice
  3. Casa Flora Venezia

Budget Tip:
If you're on a budget, I highly recommend Combo Hostel. I can almost hear your doubts, but this place is beautifully designed and offers private rooms at reasonable prices.
