N° 059 | A Serene, Old Soul
Nestled in the heart of Nardò, this historic residence is more than just a beautifully restored palazzo—it’s a love letter to Salento, a passion project brought to life by two dreamers who stumbled upon this enchanting town and never looked back.
A Love Affair with Nardò
Manuel and Stefan had always been drawn to Italy, but it wasn’t until a chance visit to Nardò that they felt truly at home. It was one of those happy accidents—one that changed everything. The town’s baroque beauty, the golden light reflecting off centuries-old palazzi, and the quiet hum of daily life captivated them instantly.
It was during one of their strolls through the old town that they spotted a neglected yet grand building, its star-vaulted ceilings and timeworn walls whispering stories of the past. It had been abandoned for two decades, but they saw its potential. What started as a dream soon became a mission—to restore not just a house, but a piece of history, and to share its magic with others.
The Space
Every detail of this home has been carefully considered, blending historical elegance with modern comfort. Original frescoes, hidden beneath layers of plaster, were lovingly uncovered. The dramatic 7.5-meter ceilings give a sense of calm and grandeur, while handpicked vintage furniture and custom-made pieces add warmth and personality. The kitchen is a highlight—a striking blend of past and present, with its original pink vaulted ceiling and a long wooden dining table that once belonged to an old tobacco factory.
The bedrooms
There are three beautifully appointed bedrooms, one of the bedrooms is a guest suite with an attached living space that has a sofabed where 1-2 people can sleep. The house accommodates up to eight guests in absolute comfort. Each bedroom with an en-suite bathroom,, designed with a minimalist approach, reflects the timeless elegance of the palazzo. Soft natural tones, artisanal tiles, and walk-in rain showers create a spa-like experience, while carefully selected fixtures blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
Outdoor area
Ascending through the sunlit stairwell, you reach the stunning rooftop terrace, a true sanctuary above the city. Fragrant plants and comfortable lounge areas set the scene for relaxed afternoons and unforgettable evenings under the Puglian sky. An outdoor kitchen and dining space invite guests to enjoy al fresco meals while taking in sweeping views over Nardò’s baroque skyline.
Experiencing Puglia
Nardò is one of Puglia’s hidden gems—a place where time slows down, where locals gather in the piazza for an espresso and a chat, and where history is woven into the fabric of daily life. From here, the best of Salento is at your fingertips.
The crystal-clear waters of Santa Maria al Bagno and Porto Selvaggio are just a short drive away, perfect for a refreshing swim or a lazy afternoon by the sea. The nearby towns of Lecce, Galatina, and Gallipoli offer endless opportunities for exploring Puglia’s rich history and vibrant culture.
And then, of course, there’s the food. From freshly caught seafood to homemade orecchiette, this region is a paradise for food lovers. Manuel and Stefan have their favorite spots—Gustavo for contemporary takes on local cuisine, Antica Trattoria Salandra for classic dishes, and Caffè Parisi for an afternoon espresso with a view.
A Home That Grows with Time
For Manuel and Stefan, this isn’t just a house—it’s a living space, one that evolves with time and the people who pass through its doors. “We didn’t just want to restore a building,” says Stefan. “We wanted to create a place that inspires, that feels like home, and that allows people to slow down and truly experience this incredible part of the world.”
And that’s exactly what they’ve done!
