Unique South Tyrol
Vipiteno is the northernmost city in South Tyrol, hence the Alpine city. Mediterranean is at most the way of life here. The aperitivo in the late afternoon, the food slightly Mediterranean and of course the openness to its guests, are part of it here, as pilgrims and travelers have been coming from north to south and vice versa over the Brenner for thousands of years. A sociable small town, a wonderful historic old town, and the magnificent facades of the townhouses from the 14th century. The Rosskopf, the local mountain, is located at the north end of the pedestrian zone and is well attended in every season. For skiing or tobogganing on its 9 km long route directly to the entrance of the pedestrian zone, for hiking, or to linger, for "forest bathing" or sunbathing on the terraces of the cozy huts. Here you let your car rest, you walk, ride your bike, or take the bus. The train to Bressanone and Bolzano runs every hour. You take it a little slower. You breathe in the scent of the Alpine summer, let the Christmas lights sparkle in the wind and watch their play, listen to the quiet gurgling of the pigeons and clinking wine glasses. You greet each other, you smile, and are happy about a little chat at the bar.
Culture and nature
South Tyrol is unique. Small historical town centers with a lot of history, lively streets and squares, cheerful people, and authentic aplin-Mediterranean flair paired with diverse cuisine and excellent wines make the small country on the main Alpine ridge a popular destination for travel-loving connoisseurs. Buschenschank, award-winning restaurants, farmer's cuisine, stars, shelters...the variety is great to satisfy hunger and curiosity. Small winemakers, individual wines, steep slopes, and character have made South Tyrol wine internationally known appreciated, and drunk by locals and guests. The intact nature with the best well-kept hiking trails, a wide range of sports activities in the fresh air, the best slope conditions in winter in a breathtaking setting, and a great fun factor in the snow complete the offer and make a visit worthwhile at any time of the year.
