An Unforgettable Alpine Evening

Today, we're thrilled to hear from Paulina and Sophie, the founders of friends & butter, who hosted a remarkable alpine supper club in South Tyrol together with FREEDL.

We are three university friends brought together by our love of food, drinks and hosting. Sophie and Paulina curate "friends & butter," offering intimate culinary events in Berlin, while Maria develops exquisite non-alcoholic beverages with her brand, FREEDL, in South Tyrol.

The Tavolata Experience 

On Saturday, July 6, we hosted an unforgettable alpine supper club event, "One Night & One Tavolata," in the heart of South Tyrol. This event brought together 20 guests for a unique dining experience at a traditional mountain farm at 1.400m, where we transformed the space into an intimate and welcoming tavola.

Setting the Scene

We began our day early, ensuring every detail was perfect for our guests. The rustic charm of the mountain farm Gsteier provided the ideal backdrop for our evening. With its panoramic views of the Dolomites and the serene ambiance of the alpine surroundings, the farm set the stage for a magical night.

Sophie and Paulina curated a plant-centered menu that celebrated the rich flavors of South Tyrol. Our dishes highlighted seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, each prepared with care and creativity.

The evening's culinary journey started with a selection of aperitivo treats like arancini with lemon mayonnaise and olive verdi nocellara nestled in oranges. For antipasti we served a vibrant selection, including burrata sourced from local cheese factory amo, ensuring top-quality dairy products. The main course, secondi, showcased creative dishes like oyster mushrooms with carbonara and polenta, capturing the essence of the region's produce. Our vegetables were proudly sourced from Hof des Wandels, highlighting the best of local farming.

The Evening Unfolds

As our guests arrived, they were greeted with a warm welcome and a glass of FREEDL's sparkling tea infused with carefully blended herbal and fruit extracts. The atmosphere was one of warmth and intimacy, with our long table set with care, reflecting the rustic elegance of the alpine surroundings. Soft candlelight and simple yet elegant table settings created a cozy, inviting ambiance.

Throughout the evening, our guests shared stories, laughter, delicious food, and FREEDL's selection of craft beers, including classic, calma, and citrino. The communal dining experience fostered meaningful connections, with dishes served on large platters, encouraging conversation and interaction. The highlight of the evening was the genuine sense of community that developed, as everyone enjoyed the shared meals together.

A Perfect Ending

Our tavolata concluded in the barn, with a selection of local cheeses, including Amo and Boarbichl varieties. Surrounded by the scent of fresh hay, as the night drew to a close, our guests departed with full hearts and satisfied palates, carrying with them the memories of a perfect alpine evening.
