A little guide to Orvieto
Earlier this year, We stayed at our beautiful N084 in Umbria, we visited one of the most stunning cities in the region, perched atop a rocky hill and known for its breathtaking Duomo. We explored Orvieto, not only to admire this magnificent cathedral (which rivals the one in Florence) but also to check out the best restaurants and discover one of our newest gems, the stunning Palazzo Petrvs hotel.

For me, this hotel alone would be a reason to visit Orvieto. WOW! It’s a masterpiece of design, seamlessly blending its 15th-century heritage with refined contemporary touches. Each room is beautiful in its own right, featuring frescoed walls, coffered ceilings, and terracotta floors that reflect the building’s rich history. The design highlights include the penthouse suite, with tufa stone details and a private terrace offering views of Orvieto’s iconic Duomo. From the candlelit Coro restaurant in a former church to the verdant Gocce courtyard bar, you’ll want to take a picture at every corner of this stunning palazzo.
So definitely save this hotel for your next trip to Umbria!

Dining Tips
- Trattoria La Palomba: A perfect place to savor local specialties like Umbricelli pasta with truffle, wild boar, and excellent regional wines.
- Coro Restaurant: The restaurant at Palazzo Petrvs, housed in a former 16th-century church, offers an unforgettable dining experience surrounded by timeless beauty. The food combines traditional Umbrian dishes with modern touches.
- Gastronomia Aronne: Perfect for a quick bite, this casual spot offers delicious sandwiches and fresh local produce. It’s ideal for a fast meal on the go or a simple glass of wine.
- Trattoria del Moro Aronne: Right next to the Gastronomia, this is their lunch spot if you have a bit more time. Here, you can enjoy timeless favorites like pasta and roast meats, all made with locally sourced ingredients and served in a warm, inviting atmosphere.
- Gocce: For a hip cocktail experience, Gocce is the place to be. This trendy courtyard bar at Palazzo Petrvs offers creative cocktails in a laid-back setting, making it the perfect spot for a date night!
Two of my favorite wineries in the area:
- Fattoria Mani Di Luna: A small, charming biodynamic vineyard. If you’re not traveling to Umbria, you can also find these wines at Pieksmans in Amsterdam.
- Tenuta Vitalonga: A dream vineyard with classic wines from Umbria. It’s also a lovely spot for dinner! (This is very close to our N084 as well.)
