N° 085 | Hidden Gem Dolomites

Italy > Dolomites

Nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, there exists a retreat that seamlessly blends the charm of old-world architecture with the ethos of modern living. This sanctuary, brought back to life from the remnants of an old building, stands as a testament to the beauty of preserving the past while embracing the future. Careful renovation has ensured that the essence of local architecture and the original materials remain at the forefront, creating a space that is both authentic and welcoming.

It is one of the very rare luxurious houses for rent in this part of the Dolomites, creating an opportunity to spend winter or summer holidays with a large group. The house accommodates 8 adults and 4 children

Restoring this large farmhouse, the owners have been able to realize a truly impressive alpine home, with sumptuous fabrics and beautiful furnishings go hand in hand with aged woods, natural stones and original wooden panelling. The result is a comfortable and chic property, in which modern technology was combined with the traditional art of living in the mountains.

The panoramic view is breathtaking and spreads from the Sella massive, to the Marmolada glacier and the Civetta mountain-range, the house finding itself between several mountain tops.

The Space

The house spreads over 520 m2 living space on the top three floors, and furthermore contains a cellar over the entire footprint of the chalet (an extra 200 sqm). A stunning, double height huge open plan living space has been created over the top two floors, decorated with old retained beams and partially exposing the original stone walls.

The spacious lounge with comfortable sofas and an enormous fireplace is connected to the dining area and an ultra-modern and fully equipped spacious kitchen with a large island, where everything can be found one needs for refined cooking.

The Bedrooms

The house includes 4 generously sized master bedrooms, of which two are original ‘Stubes’ with Stube ovens, all tastefully decorated with old wood. There are two smaller bedrooms, connected to these Stubes, with single beds. Last but not least there is a 7th sleeping room with a romantic bunkbed for 4 children. There are 3 bathrooms with walk-in shower, one of which also contains a bathtub.

A mezzanine that spreads over the entire width of the chalet, provides an extra lounge area with uninterrupted views over the valley, and an extra master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and separate toilet.

The cellar contains amongst others a wine cellar, a ski-room and several other rooms, all connected to a central area with a beautiful vaulted ceiling.

Outside, the house is surrounded by several balconies offering the opportunity of sun exposure during the entire day. There is a south facing garden with terraces surrounding the house, with abundant space and garden furniture to enjoy living outside during the warmer seasons. It offers a peaceful panoramic view overlooking an impressive mountain décor, changing its colours along the seasons.

A Home for All

This family-friendly abode welcomes children and pets (with a prior nod from the owner), ensuring that every member of the family, from the youngest to the furry, feels at home. With bedrooms that can function as children's rooms adjacent to two of the master bedrooms and a crib available, it's clear that inclusivity and comfort are at the core of this property's ethos.

In a region where the beauty of the Dolomites continues indoors, this property stands as a beacon of fine living, character, and tranquility. Whether it's basking in the glory of the mountains, delving into the culinary delights of the local mountain  huts, or simply enjoying the peace of your surroundings, this home is your gateway to experiencing the Dolomites in all their majesty.

Summer & Winter

In wintertime the house can serve as a basis for unequalled opportunities for skiing and other winter sports, being surrounded by many ski areas together creating 1200 km of ski slopes in the enchanting Dolomites. It is positioned on only an 8-minute drive from the famous ski carousel ‘Sella Ronda’, a world known ski tour which connects 4 valleys in the Dolomites (Unesco heritage). Although on a walking distance from a small village (Pieve di Livinallongo), where all necessary shopping can be done, it is positioned in a tranquil area that guarantees privacy. It is also only a short drive to Cortina d’ Ampezzo and the many other interconnected ski-areas in the Dolomites. The house overlooks the Civetta mountain on the other side of the valley and has a magnificent panorama on the mountain top of the Marmolada glacier and the Sella massive.

During summer the mountains provide a series of opportunities to enjoy its beauty, and invite you to several activities like hiking, mountain climbing, cycling, mountain cross, paragliding and even swimming in the many mountain lakes. The vastness of the Dolomites guarantees tranquillity and peaceful pleasure of its unspoiled flora and fauna seen in the widespread alpine meadows. In contrast there are the impressive mountain peaks rising high above the clouds and changing their colours during the day. Perhaps autumn is even the most beautiful season with its varying palette of colours rising from the early morning mist, and the fresh mountain air that announces the approaching winter.
