N° 012 | Ultimate Luxury
Scattered around the wild expanse of the estate in Umbria are 7 magnificent houses, available for rental. All are former farmhouses, once in ruins but now carefully and meticulously restored by the Bolza family.
Keeping to the original footprint of the farmhouses, each house is truly unique and thoroughly liveable. What they all have in common, though, is the location, sitting amongst our charming hills with undisturbed views of the pristine estate. Each morning your housemaid will prepare your favourite morning dishes, including the freshest, free-range chicken eggs, for when you rise and shine
The Estate
Reschio is more than just a beautiful place—it’s a remarkable story of restoration, vision, and family legacy. When Count and Countess Antonio Bolza discovered this hidden corner of Umbria in 1984, it was a peaceful retreat surrounded by wild, abandoned farmland. A decade later, Antonio sold his publishing business and purchased the entire 1,500-hectare estate, unknowingly acquiring a thousand-year-old castle and fifty crumbling farmhouses.
With their five children, the Bolzas made Reschio their home and set out to preserve its raw beauty. In 1999, their son, Count Benedikt, returned from studying architecture in London and began restoring the estate’s farmhouses, transforming them into elegant, award-winning villas.
Benedikt and his wife, Donna Nencia, lived in the castle as they reimagined it into what is now t Today, Benedikt oversees every aspect of the estate—from the architectural studio housed in a converted tobacco warehouse to the handcrafted furniture line B.B. for Reschio.
Half of the once-abandoned farmhouses are now private homes or luxury rentals, forests and meadows have been rewilded, and Count Antonio still cares for his renowned stable of Spanish dressage horses.
Reschio remains a deeply personal project for the Bolza family—a sanctuary of timeless elegance and wild nature, shaped by a shared commitment to beauty, preservation, and slow living. Guests who stay here become part of that story.
