A very personal story

"Let me tell you a little about myself and my husband Alessandro. In 2018, we decided together to purchase this small early 19th-century palazzo, right on the village square. It was a long renovation process, but we opted for a conservative restoration, without altering its essence. We kept everything that could be preserved; some of the floors are original, and almost all the furniture inside has been restored—some of it by us—and then used to furnish the property.

Our hospitality is very personal and family-style. We love making our guests feel right at home. Our highlight is definitely breakfast—I make everything myself, from cakes to cookies and even some jams. I enjoy setting up the buffet table with care, paying attention to every detail: setting the tables with old embroidered tablecloths and French porcelain plates, or pieces salvaged from our grandmothers’ cupboards.

I come from two generations of bakers. For years, we had a bakery in the village, so bread and sweets have always been a part of my life. I love sharing traditional desserts from our area and rediscovering old recipes, sometimes with my own twist.

My connection to Campiglia… I was born here and have always lived here—my roots are in this place. Sadly, it has changed a lot over the years; it’s not the Campiglia I remember from when I was young. The population has dwindled, and so I hope for a kind of conscious tourism—one that doesn’t disrupt the authenticity that still defines it.

What my husband and I wish to offer our guests is slow tourism: taking the time to sip a coffee, enjoy a slice of cake, and chat with us… maybe even tell the story behind the name L’Imbrunire. Then perhaps we’ll suggest a walk through the historic center, ending with a seat on the village benches where you can exchange a few words with the elderly locals who love to entertain visitors with their stories.

All around Campiglia, there are many walking trails. It’s beautiful to walk here—I always go walking with my dog in the nearby woods. Being in touch with nature is a part of who we are here. Then there are the free thermal springs, much loved by guests. You can rent a bike or go horseback riding, or just enjoy an aperitivo at one of the village bars or a tasting at a local winery.

And at the end of the day—watch the sunset from the rocca, the highest point of the village, where the view is absolutely breathtaking!"

The Space

As you step inside, you're welcomed by a cozy sitting room and a bright dining area on the ground floor—where each morning begins with the scent of freshly baked cakes and the soft clinking of porcelain cups. It’s here that guests gather for breakfast, often lingering over conversation and second cups of coffee.

Upstairs, the palazzo reveals six thoughtfully restored bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom. Two of the rooms are located on the first floor next to the breakfast room, and the other four are on the second floor. Every room carries a quiet elegance, blending period details with simple comforts—perfect for retreating after a day of exploring the Tuscan countryside.

Outside, a small garden waits—lush, peaceful, and full of charm. It’s a favourite spot for a leisurely breakfast under the morning sun or a glass of wine in the golden light of early evening. Whether you're starting your day or winding it down, this little oasis offers a moment of stillness, wrapped in the timeless rhythm of village life.
