N° 022 | Dreamy Palazzo in Salento

AN OASIS IN THE HEART OF PUGLIA

The hardest thing is to do nothing and do it well.
– Marty Rubin

Let us take you to a quiet village in Salento, to a place where time slows down and simple beauty reigns. Right between the old church and the main piazza of Neviano — a little-known gem perched on a hill — sits a historic palazzo that once stood abandoned, forgotten. But something about it spoke. Its thick walls, timeworn floors, and noble proportions whispered of stories still waiting to be lived.

It all began in 2021, in the quiet pause of the pandemic. Two architects — one from the South of Italy, and one based in Barcelona — stumbled upon this crumbling building online. When they arrived in Neviano, it was love at first sight. The grand entrance, the columns, the air of dignity… the place simply asked to be brought back to life.

With a light touch and a deep respect for the past, the palazzo was carefully restored. Walls were left with their patina intact, vintage pieces found their place beside custom-made furniture, and every corner was considered with intention. The result? A home that feels quietly luxurious, deeply soulful — and unmistakably Italian.

This is not a hotel. This is a home with history, and now it’s yours to experience.

The Space

From the moment you step into the hall, you’ll feel it — the calm. The sun filters through a new circular window, catching the texture of the ancient walls and stone basin. It’s the perfect spot for your morning espresso or an evening aperitivo, watching life pass by on the street below.

The dining room is the heart of the house. Soft blue ceilings arch above a travertine table, flanked by Italian vintage chairs and handmade lighting. The original tiles underfoot have been polished back to their former glory, and every detail, down to the brushed door locks, has been thoughtfully preserved.

A few steps away, the kitchen is tucked into a quiet corner of the house. Its microcement counter looks out onto the terrace, while the custom breakfast table beneath the pergola beckons for long, lazy mornings.

There’s a cozy reading nook with a fireplace and a triangular sofa — perfect for retreating with a good book, or simply doing nothing at all.

And above it all? A rooftop paradise with views over the village rooftops and surrounding countryside. Here, you’ll find a dining area, a lounge, a sun deck, and a plunge pool. It's the kind of rooftop that turns mornings into rituals and evenings into memories.

The Bedrooms

Each bedroom in the palazzo has been designed as a sanctuary.

The Blue Room overlooks the street and square, with a star-vaulted ceiling and restored wardrobes tucked neatly into the walls. Soft light fills the room through the balcony doors, and the cocciopesto floors feel cool underfoot.

The Off-White Room is a study in calm. A bench beneath the window invites slow mornings and silent afternoons, while the vaulted ceiling above tells stories of centuries past.

The Master Suite, the largest of the three, looks onto an orange garden. In spring, the scent of blossoms floats through the open window. A generous dressing area lies behind the bed, and the private bathroom glows with warm alabaster light.

Each room is outfitted with custom-made bed linens, soft and firm feather pillows, and natural toiletries. We believe sleep is sacred — and we’ve made sure of it.

Outdoor Living

The terrace is where everything comes together. Dine under the stars, stretch into the morning sun, or slip into the plunge pool with a glass of local wine. The rooftop has been divided into intimate levels — each space offering a new perspective over the village and its serene surroundings.

The Village & Surroundings

Neviano isn’t on the tourist map — and that’s exactly why we love it. It’s a village that moves slowly, where locals gather in the square, and the best bakery is just a short walk away.

From here, you’re just a 20-minute drive from the Ionian coast — think turquoise waters, wild beaches, and simple seafood trattorias. Lecce, the baroque jewel of Puglia, is just 40 minutes away, and the region’s vineyards and olive groves surround you in every direction.

Extra Touches

At the Palazzo, they believe in both detox and retox. So they have stocked the house with yoga mats, free weights, and resistance bands — as well as a bottle of local wine on the house. Enjoy both, in balance.

There’s no TV here — on purpose. Instead, you’ll find books, a Bluetooth speaker, and plenty of space to simply be.

Nearest Airport

The nearest airport is Brindisi Airport (BDS),

Nearest Train station

Lecce Train Station is the closest major railway hub, around 35 minutes from Neviano.

This palazzo isn’t about excess. It’s about presence. About noticing the light, the air, the scent of orange blossoms through an open window. It’s about sitting still, doing nothing — and doing it well. Welcome home!
