N° 060 | Dolomites Hideaway
Fresh forests and mellow meadows. This family legacy, weaving a tale of a century-old farmhouse and a modern barn, lies between Collalbo and Auna di Sopra. A lot can happen here: retreat, relaxation, creative work, movement, rest, recuperation, contentment…
South Tyrol, also known as Alto Adige, is often hailed as Italy’s best-kept secret. This historic farmhouse has been transformed into a farmhouse-turned-modern-mountain-chalet. It basks in the shadows of the Dolomites, it has been beautifully renovated with a modern alpine look rather than the traditional rustic vibe. The exterior is a combination of contrasting materials like wood, stucco, and stone, complemented by a dark, slate grey pitched roof, which makes it into a stunning design; an architectural gem!
The Space
Inside, wooden elements like built-in features in the dining room and wall panels in bedrooms and baths bring a cozy touch. The windows have stunning views over the forest and the snow-covered mountains. The two bedrooms both have en-suite bathrooms and balconies, the house accommodates two couples or a small family comfortably. A reading room overlooks the forest, and a chaise longue can serve as an additional bed.
The spacious living area has panoramic views from each window. It even features a workstation for two. The fully-equipped kitchen is modern yet pays homage to the craftsmanship of days gone by. The dining room has a fascinating backstory—it was extracted from the old farmhouse, meticulously restored, and reinstalled, preserving its unique design heritage.
Laid-back tranquillity. That’s what awaits you here.
Relaxation - especially important after a day spent outdoors, hiking, biking, or skiing. In the Finnish sauna with shower area, you can relax to the max, or on the lawn in the sunshine!
Mountain hut: Nothing makes you feel connected to the mountain and its people like a walk to the Swiss stone pine-crafted mountain hut, "Schipfl", surrounded by meadows. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the house.
Little Bottega: The house's location is a bit secluded. That's why you'll find high-quality products in the small in-house bottega - from South Tyrolean jam to Tuscan olive oil, spaghetti, cheese, and speck. Ideal for breakfast, but also for lunch or dinner, for a small feast or a snack.
Wine: The wine cellar, nestled against the cooling rocks, is home not only to savoury speck and sausages but also a fine selection of wines, chosen from small wineries. Perfect for when paired with food or a good read. After a long day with outdoor activities, sit in front of the fire place with a good glass of wine and enjoy the view over the Dolomites.
The Pergola experience: guests are invited to spend a day-spa at the Pergola Residence in Lagundo. That is a good hour drive from the house, but definitely worth a visit. On hot days guest can enjoy the outside pool with beautiful views on the surrounding mountains and spa. On cold days there is the indoor swimming pool with Finnish sauna and steam bath. It is also possible to book massages, energizing body treatments, yoga and pilates classes here.
And there is a lovely place where you can sit barefoot and read your book with good food, coffee and wines (from their own wine cellar) at your disposal.
