N° 001 | Podere Invidia
‘Invidia’ is named after its enviable panoramic views and unspoiled setting in the heart of the Tuscan countryside.
This hilltop site is also linked to the region’s history. The Blessed Pietro Beato was born here in 1410, and his legacy continues to be felt throughout the area. Each year, he is honoured in a local ceremony, and a nearby wine estate still bears his name.
After standing abandoned for more than fifty years, the farmhouse was rediscovered hidden beneath trees and dense vegetation. The owners immediately felt that this remarkable place deserved a second life. What followed was seven years of restoration, hard work and dedication, transforming a ruin into a refined countryside retreat where contemporary comfort sits effortlessly within its historic surroundings.
Today, Invidia offers a slower pace of life, deeply connected to nature, the landscape and the rhythms of rural Tuscany.
The Space
Entering the house, you arrive in a central hall that leads to a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a dining area and fireplace. Surrounded by windows on all sides, the kitchen enjoys beautiful natural light throughout the day.
The hall also opens onto the former stables, now transformed into a generous living room with comfortable seating and a fireplace. From here, one wing leads to a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, while the other opens onto the table tennis area and large French doors leading directly to the garden and pool.
A staircase in the former stables leads to the upper floor, where six additional bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms are arranged around the house. Here you will also find the loggia, an open-air living room with a fireplace and sweeping views across the Tuscan hills — a favourite place to gather at any time of day.
The central courtyard opens onto a covered terrace with an outdoor dining area overlooking the surrounding landscape. Beyond lies the garden, planted with olive and fruit trees, and the infinity pool, which appears to merge seamlessly with the rolling hills beyond.
On the western side of the farmhouse, the Sunset Terrace offers another inviting place to unwind. Furnished with comfortable sofas and armchairs, it is the perfect spot for an aperitivo while watching the sun disappear behind the Tuscan countryside.
*The house has natural airco. What is meant by this is that the environment and the structure of the building offer cooling. At an altitude of 500m, the nights are relatively cool (even in the hottest months). This, in combination with the meter-thick walls, and the use of the shutters, makes the house a very pleasant place, throughout spring, summer, and fall.
Location
The Podere (former farm) is located near the historical village of Trequanda. A village yet unknown to tourism, hosting the best local suppliers of Tuscan food.
