N° 092 | 19th-Century Noble Residence Near Milan

Italy > Lombardy
users 19 bed 8 bath 4

Once the residence of the noble Sacchi family, this historic property carries the spirit of Italian aristocracy and cultural heritage. Built in the early 1800s by Professor Sacchi, the personal physician to Queen Margherita of Savoy, the estate was a home of refinement and quiet grandeur until his passing. In 1984, it was acquired by the Filippo Panseca, an Italian artist, scenographer, and visionary who spent his life experimenting with the boundaries of art, technology, and society.

Today, many of Filippo Panseca’s works live on through his daughter Margot and her husband Massimiliano, who have transformed their family home into a living museum. Here, the spirit of Panseca is tangible. Guests staying at the villa are not just holidaymakers — they become part of an artistic legacy, invited to discover pieces that once caused uproar in galleries and piazzas across Italy.

The Space

The heart of the estate is a 1,000 m² castle, arranged across three floors, surrounded by courtyards, gardens, and historic dependences. Guests move through a succession of grand salons — a ballroom, gallery, dining rooms, piano room, and library — each framed by original frescoes and boiseries, yet animated by contemporary artworks, sculptures, and installations.

This dialogue between past and present is what makes the atmosphere so distinctive: a place where noble architecture holds space for a living collection of creativity and design, curated over decades by the family. For those with a creative spirit, the artist’s studio and light-filled ateliers invite reflection, yoga, or even immersive workshops.

The Bedrooms

The villa accommodates up to 19 guests. The main castle features 8 bedrooms (7 doubles and 1 single) with 4 bathrooms, comfortably hosting up to 15 guests. The adjacent dependance, originally a staff apartment, offers 2 additional bedrooms and 1 bathroom for 4 guests (available at an extra cost).

Each room has its own character—where historic frescoes, antique furnishings, and carefully chosen contemporary design pieces come together to create spaces that are both timeless and inviting.

Artemisia – The master bedroom with two majestic windows, original boiserie, and an Art Deco frescoed ceiling. Ensuite to the master bathroom.

Glicine Suite – A regal bedroom with adjoining living room, forming a family suite with Fragola, a convertible twin.

Menta – A bright twin with Art Deco ceiling and views of the front garden and church.

Basilico – A charming single, blending antiques and design.

Alloro – A cozy twin adjoining Glicine, perfect for children or friends.

Clementina – Romantic double with heavy beams and antique swinging crib.

Edera – A cocoon-like double with fresco ceiling and vintage details.

*There are a total of 4 bathrooms, including the master bathroom which embodies old-world grandeur, with marble counters, painted ceiling, and a free-standing bathtub.

*The adjacent dependance, originally a staff apartment, offers 2 additional bedrooms and 1 bathroom for 4 guests (available at an extra cost).

Outdoor Area

Two courtyards and a leafy front garden enclose the castle, creating intimate spaces for dining, gathering, or enjoying the stillness of rural life. The historic pigeon tower crowns the property, offering views over the village and surrounding landscape.

Art & Atmosphere

Art here is not decoration, but a way of life. The estate houses the archive and collection of Filippo Panseca, a visionary artist who pioneered the use of technology in art as early as the 1970s. From biodegradable spheres symbolizing environmental awareness to immersive installations, his work is both radical and poetic — and it lives within the walls of this residence.

The collection extends throughout the castle, blending seamlessly with 19th-century frescoes and noble interiors. Every room sparks curiosity, every corner tells a story. Guests are not simply visitors; they are participants in a dialogue between heritage and creativity.

Location

The property lies in the Lomellina region, a quiet corner of northern Italy nestled between Milan, Turin, and Genoa. This is a landscape of rice fields, medieval villages, and tranquil riversides — authentic, understated, and deeply Italian.

Nearby, the Renaissance town of Vigevano charms with its Piazza Ducale, while the surrounding countryside offers farm-to-table dining, vineyards, and endless opportunities for cultural or culinary exploration.

Why Stay Here

This residence is not just a place to sleep — it is an experience of history and imagination. Guests step into a noble home layered with frescoes, collections, and contemporary art. They become part of an ongoing story of preservation and creation, guided by hosts who see hospitality as an exchange between like-minded souls.

It is a home where slow travel meets cultural immersion, where beauty is found not only in the architecture and landscapes, but in the spirit of the people who care for it.
