N° 066 | Rapunzel's Tower
An ancient stronghold built in the 12th century on top of a hill is one of the many towers that have overlooked the city of Todi since the Middle Ages. Offering a breathtaking panorama of the Umbrian landscape, this enchanting property exudes an atmosphere that is both mysterious and rich in history, yet adorned with contemporary comforts.
Originally boasting two towers, the first erected in the late 12th century and the second around the turn of the 15th century, it carries a legacy intertwined with the renowned Atti family. Later named after Almonte di Bartolomeo, the tower's storied past is immortalized in a sonnet titled "Todi" by the esteemed Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, who is believed to have been captivated by its allure.
In 1988, Enrico Menestò and Raffaella Gabetta embarked on a restoration journey, breathing new life into the tower. The meticulous restoration, completed in 2006, has transformed the ancient tower into an exclusive retreat.
