No. 027 | Venice Townhouse
This pink Venetian townhouse sits along the Canale della Sensa in Cannaregio, away from the busiest parts of Venice. The house has evolved over time, bringing together its original features and a thoughtful collection of contemporary furniture, lighting and objects.
Terrazzo floors, lime-washed walls and wooden beams provide the backdrop for iron furniture, sculptural lamps and handcrafted ceramics. At the back, a private garden offers a little greenery and somewhere to sit outside after a day exploring the city.
The Space
The property can be rented in two configurations: the main house for up to eight guests, or the entire property for up to twelve.
The interiors combine Venetian terrazzo floors, original wooden beams and lime-washed walls with a palette of terracotta, green and grey. Iron tables, bookshelves and kitchen elements by Fantin sit alongside lighting by Isamu Noguchi, Vibia, Santa & Cole and Mariano Fortuny. Handcrafted ceramics and carefully chosen pieces complete the rooms.
The main house has a kitchen area, while the separate apartment has its own Valcucine kitchenette. The apartment can be useful for larger groups who would like a little more privacy within the same property.
The Rooms
The main house sleeps eight guests in four bedrooms, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor. Each bedroom has a private bathroom and an eco-friendly Simmons Natural Heritage bed.
Upon request there is a possibility to add 2 additional bedrooms. The complete property therefore offers six bedrooms and six private bathrooms for up to twelve guests.
The Garden
The 150 m² private garden is enclosed by old brick walls, their surfaces marked by cracks and the passage of time. A natural lawn sits alongside a cypress tree, a fragrant mimosa and flowering plants that grow freely around the edges. Marble sculptures are set among the greenery. A unique and peaceful place in the heart of Venice.
Location
The townhouse is in Cannaregio, a part of Venice where local life continues alongside the city's historic landmarks. The Jewish Ghetto and the Church of Madonna dell’Orto are in the neighbourhood, as are works by Tintoretto. Across the water lies Murano, with the wider lagoon beyond.
The Canale della Sensa runs directly in front of the house, changing colour with the light and the tide. The nearest vaporetto stop is a five-minute walk away, making it easy to move around Venice and reach the Art or Architecture Biennale.
