Little Gem No. 055 | In a garden of lemons trees

Italy > Campania
users 4 bed 2 bath 2

Nestled in a lush garden of lemon and olive trees, you find this exceptional Guesthouse; a hidden retreat with breathtaking views of Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. Built from volcanic tufo stone in the 1800s, this serene haven sits on the tranquil hillside of Priora, just 6 km from Sorrento. Accessible via a historic road first laid by the Romans, the journey to this extraordinary Casa is a passage through time, leading to a sanctuary where nature, history, and hospitality intertwine.

A Place to Slow Down

From the moment you arrive, a deep sense of tranquility washes over you. This is not just a place to stay—it is an invitation to slow down, disconnect from the rush of city life, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Spanning 450 sqm, the guesthouse consists of four distinct living areas, each thoughtfully restored and designed to honor the home’s historic roots. The grounds embrace nature’s abundance: a sprawling lemon grove, century-old olive trees, an organic vegetable garden, and a variety of fruit trees—both local and exotic.

Guests can enjoy an outdoor kitchen and pergolato with a large dining table overlooking the sea, a wood-fired pizza oven, two swimming pools, a cozy indoor kitchen in the old cantina, a sauna, and a small but well-equipped gym. The owners live and work on-site, welcoming guests with warmth and authenticity. Meanwhile, Winston, Abby, and Marvel—their three four-legged guardians—ensure everyone feels right at home.

THE Restoration

Much like the Roman alleyways and ancient towns that surround it, this Guesthouse feels like a well-kept secret, steeped in history and tradition. The meticulous restoration process, carried out by local artisans, embraced sustainability—refurbished materials, vintage finds, and second-hand treasures breathe life back into every corner. The result is a space where simplicity, sustainability, and design exist in perfect harmony, allowing the home’s soul to shine.

They cultivate our land with care. The gardens are 100% organic and free from chemicals and pesticides. Seasonal fruits and vegetables are harvested fresh, while the small farm provides daily fresh eggs from happy, free-roaming hens.

For everything else, they rely on small, organic local producers, ensuring that every ingredient reflects the best of the region. Guests can enjoy snacks and aperitivo in the cantina, or simply wander into the kitchen for a bottle of local wine at any time.

Wellness

Set amidst the lemon grove, the spa room is crafted from natural materials—wood, tufo stone, and locally sourced grey sandstone. The sauna provides a space to unwind, while private massages are available on request.

The gym is open 24/7, offering guests the freedom to exercise at their own pace. Yoga mats are available to be used anywhere across the property—whether on a sun-drenched terrace or beneath the shade of an ancient olive tree.

Experiences, Events & Workshops

There is also a space for creativity, learning, and connection. They host workshops, retreats, and artistic residencies, supporting a vibrant community of makers and dreamers.

The Sorrento Peninsula has long been a muse for artists, writers, and free spirits. Honoring this tradition, artists-in-residence are welcome, providing a space where inspiration flows as freely as the sea breeze.

Story of the Logo

At the heart of this beautiful serene retreat is the emblem of the Hesperides, the mythological nymphs who guarded a sacred garden of golden apples. In Greek legend, these melodious maidens nurtured a world of creativity, nourishment, and the exchange of dreams. Their depiction of the Hesperides—gathered in dance beneath a lemon tree—captures the very essence of this place: a home infused with community, art, and a vibrant energy that lingers long after guests depart.
