Little Gem No. 054 | A Place Like No Other
A Place with a Hidden Past
Tucked away in the charming village of San Miniato, between Pisa and Florence, this is a remarkable 16th-century residence with a history as captivating as its design. Originally built during the Renaissance, this stone property was meticulously restored by Giovanni Settesoldi, who saw its hidden potential and embarked on a seven-year renovation journey.
“The first time I walked into the house, I exclaimed 'Umamma!', which means 'wow' in Tuscan.”
The Space: A Masterpiece of Design
Spanning 230 square meters, the residence seamlessly blends historic charm with contemporary luxury. Every detail of the restoration was carefully considered, preserving its Renaissance foundations while incorporating sleek, modern elements.
At the heart of the property is a breathtaking open-plan living space, flooded with natural light through expansive windows that frame the rolling Tuscan hills. The interior strikes a perfect balance between old and new, featuring exposed stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and original terracotta flooring, complemented by minimalist furnishings and refined details.
A 25-square-meter terrace overlooks the historic Piazza Bonaparte, the vibrant heart of San Miniato. It’s an idyllic spot to sip a glass of wine while watching the sunset over Tuscany.
But perhaps the most unexpected surprise lies beneath the house—a hidden heated pool, inspired by ancient Roman thermal baths. Carved into the foundations, this hypogeum spa provides a serene and intimate retreat, making it a truly one-of-a-kind stay.
The Bedrooms: Comfort Meets Elegance
Designed for up to four guests, the residence offers two beautifully appointed bedrooms, each blending historical character with modern luxury:
Master Bedroom (Upper Level) – A serene retreat featuring a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom, and walk-in dressing area. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto the panoramic terrace, seamlessly merging indoor and outdoor living.
Studio Bedroom (Main Level) – A cozy yet private space with a double bed, ensuite shower room, and direct access to the main living area.
Both rooms are designed for ultimate comfort and tranquility, featuring high-quality linens, custom lighting, and breathtaking views over the Florentine countryside.
