Hidden behind an unassuming façade on Rue Lafayette, this Pension feels like a Marseille secret that has quietly endured while the city around it changed.
Part guesthouse, part private residence, the address occupies a historic duplex apartment between Saint-Charles station and the Vieux-Port. While its location places Marseille's busiest districts within walking distance, the atmosphere inside feels removed from the pace of the city; quieter, more personal and distinctly timeless.
More than a place to stay, it is a carefully composed interior shaped by a love of vintage design, collected objects and the enduring charm of old Marseille.
The House
The guesthouse consists of just five individually designed rooms, each occupying its own corner of the historic apartment.
Rather than following a unified hotel aesthetic, every room has developed its own identity through furniture and objects collected over time. Pieces from the 1930s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s sit alongside family heirlooms and vintage finds, creating interiors that feel assembled rather than decorated.
The result is a house with personality; intimate, slightly nostalgic and unmistakably lived-in.
Design & Atmosphere
What distinguishes the Pension is its ability to feel both urban and domestic.
The interiors balance Marseille's creative energy with the comfort of a private home. Vintage armchairs, old lighting, layered textiles and carefully sourced objects create spaces that attract photographers, designers and creative travellers as much as traditional visitors to the city. The house is regularly used for photo shoots and creative productions, a reflection of its distinctive visual identity.
Despite its central location, the atmosphere remains calm and deeply personal, more akin to staying with a well-travelled collector than checking into a hotel.
Breakfast & Daily Life
Mornings begin around the communal breakfast table, where local products and Provençal flavours set the tone for the day ahead.
The experience remains intentionally small-scale. Guests move through shared living spaces, exchange recommendations and return in the evening to a house that feels increasingly familiar with each passing day.

Situated in Marseille's 1st arrondissement, it occupies a strategic position between Saint-Charles station, La Canebière and the Vieux-Port.
Many of the city's defining neighbourhoods; Le Panier, Noailles, the waterfront and Marseille's cultural institutions, can be reached on foot, making it an ideal base for exploring the city without relying heavily on transport.
