A Story of Calm, Connection, and Tradition

Nestled in the heart of Lana, a small, charming village near Merano in South Tyrol, stands this Gasthaus from 1477 . This house, with a history that stretches back centuries, has lived through the changing tides of time — from a butcher's shop, mill, and bakery to a tavern, coffee house, and today, a modern yet timeless gathering place for both locals and travelers. Its spirit is one of continuity and transformation, where the old meets the new, and where every visitor is welcomed into a world that feels both familiar and refreshingly new.

The building's origins were simple, yet profound: a place to meet and greet, a space for community to gather. This very idea of the "Gasthaus" as a communal meeting place has been revived by Klaus Dissertori, who, with his family and team, brought new life to this historic home. Klaus envisioned a space where locals and visitors could come together to relax, share a meal, and enjoy one another’s company in a setting that felt like home.

Philosophy
The sky, the hotel, the neighbours. Just like yesterday, to this day.
Consciously and genuinely. Your pace. Reflection.

At the heart of the Guesthouse is this very philosophy: simple, pure, emotion. It’s a place where guests are treated like friends, welcomed with warmth and open arms. The traditional dining rooms, with their carefully crafted charm, are a reminder of the past, while the eight contemporary guest rooms offer an escape into comfort and serenity, beautifully balanced with a design that pays homage to the building’s history. From the ground floor café to the upstairs rooms, every corner of the guesthouse invites you to take a step back from your busy life, to slow down, and to truly be.

Mornings here are filled with life, as locals and visitors alike gather to sip espresso and enjoy a breakfast made with love and care. The feeling of being in a small, welcoming space, where everyone shares a quiet moment before the day begins, is exactly what Klaus hoped to create. “I want this mix of hotel guests and locals, sipping their morning coffee together,” he says, a sentiment that permeates every part of the guesthouse. It’s not just a café; it’s a place to pause, to connect, and to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

As the day goes on, the Guesthouse becomes a culinary oasis in Lana, where the richness of South Tyrolean cuisine is reinterpreted in fresh, modern ways. The afternoons are filled with the sweet smell of homemade cakes, lovingly prepared by Sandra, while evenings bring with them lively gatherings, often accompanied by live music. The terrace outside is the perfect place to gather, whether for a casual drink with friends or a long, leisurely dinner. Here, the idea of “intentional gatherings” takes on new meaning, as people come together to enjoy great food, conversation, and company.

It’s this mix of the old and the new, the historical and the contemporary, that makes this place so special. Its carefully renovated interiors, designed by Christina von Berg, are an ode to good design — minimal yet thoughtful, calm yet striking. The building’s architecture, renovated with care by Zeno Bampi, strikes a perfect balance between modern elegance and the timeless charm of the house’s long history.

But perhaps what makes this place so magical is the feeling of calm that envelops you the moment you step inside. It’s not just the quiet beauty of the space or the carefully chosen furnishings; it’s the sense of being part of something larger, something that has been here for centuries and will continue long into the future. Whether you’re resting in one of the thoughtfully named guest rooms, enjoying a meal with friends, or simply relaxing in the garden or lounge, you can’t help but feel the peaceful aura of a place that has, over the years, witnessed countless stories — and now, invites you to create your own.

In a world that often moves too fast, this Guesthouse offers a rare opportunity to slow down, to connect, and to be fully present. Whether you’re here for a night or for a meal, whether you’re a local or a traveler, this place welcomes you with open arms, offering the peace of nature, the richness of culture, and the warmth of a community that feels like family.

Here, time slows down, and for a moment, the world outside fades away. Here, in the heart of Lana, amidst the history, the food, the people, and the calm, you’re invited to take a step back — and simply be.
