N° 024 | Flamboyant Art Deco villa
Flamboyant Art Nouveau villa on Lago Maggiore
This Villa was built in the early 20th century, namely 1905 for the family Orsi, which owned the “Spazzole Verbania”, a factory for all kinds of brushes. The grand, three-story Villa is located directly on the lake and it is surrounded by a beautiful Italian-styled garden with many old trees.
Nowadays the villa has been renovated into a luxurious modern holiday villa, all with respect to its original style and the flair of the past era including beautiful frescos.
The space
You enter this villa in a beautiful old hallway, on your left hand you'll find the living room and on your right hand you find the ‘winter garden room’ a perfect place to relax in one of the chaise longues with a good book or to play a little boardgame (which can be found in the house). Behind this room, you find the dining room with a direct connection to a modern kitchen. On the other side of the house you find the Portico, which is located under the balcony and makes the perfect place for your morning coffee or to hide from the sun in the middle of the day. The access door to the cellar provides quick access to both the wine fridge and the ice machine.
Spread over the first and the second flour can be found six bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in total, All in their own style and with beautiful views of both the lake and the surrounding gardens. The villa can comfortably accommodate 10 people.
The villa is surrounded by a beautiful Mediterranean garden, a graveled pathway covered with iron arched and rose trellis leading to a romantic gazebo and citrus garden with bitter oranges, lemons, and tangerine trees. The Pool is gently embedded into the Italian garden and is tiled with beautiful Serizzo granite. The pool was fitted with salvia green Bisazza mosaic stones which delightfully reflect the sunlight. Two large parasols spend the highly desired shade when chilling out on one of the 8 comfortable Fermob sunbeds during the hot summer days. Pool towels are available for your convenience.
The location
Lago Maggiore is set at the foothills of Italy's Western Alps, bordering Switzerland's Ticino Canton and setting foot both in the Piedmont region and in Lombardy to the east. The house is located in the north part very near to the border with Switzerland and it is a 2h ride to Milano. While it is often been overlooked by for example Lago di Como or Garda. Lago Maggiore can be seen as its serene older sister with art-deco towns which gives the whole area a sophisticated reserved air. Next to everything the lakes offer, it is also a perfect destination as a gateway to the Alps. Therefore it is perfect both for active tourists seeking watersports, hiking trails, and bike paths, as well as people who seek to relax and like to embrace the wellness activities on the lake. You can easily hire a pedalo, kayak, or stand-up paddle at the Hapimag, which is located next to the villa at the location where the fabrics of the family Orsi used to be.
Additional Services
There is a fully stocked wine fridge with a variety of white and red wines and of course Prosecco from the Valdobbiadene: available for purchase
There are many board games, Chess, backgammon, and scrabble boards. Outdoor games: Pétanque or rather boccia balls, badminton rackets with proper shuttles, a precious wooden croquet set from New Zealand, the Kubb game, or a frisbee disk
Right by the Villa is the Hapimag watersports center from where you can hire a pedalo, kayak, or stand-up paddle to head out on the beautiful Lake Maggiore.
