Little Gem No. 030 | Aesthetic, Simple and Peaceful

Italy > Dolomites
users 2 bed 1 bath 1

Where once there was a large meadow with ferns, now stands this beautiful apartment, in the middle of nature, quietly located and yet quick and easy to reach. Overlooking the entire Adige Valley; a spectacle view at any time of the day or night and Merano and Tyrol Castle are at your feet. A perfect starting point for beautiful hikes and amazing skiing.

Aesthetic, simple, and peaceful, with floor-to-ceiling windows and an absolutely spectacular view!

Stefan and Franziska

What I love about this place, is that it has been owned by the same family for several decades. With each generation, the building has evolved over time, it started as a traditional restaurant with holiday apartments, run by Stefan’s parents. In 2007, Stefan and his brother expanded the house into a gourmet restaurant that became well-known and was awarded a Michelin star for its excellent food. Now the house has evolved with a new purpose, the restaurant has been converted into a residential home, with the two new apartments added. Stefan and Franziska live here, keeping it family-run and allowing it to have that welcoming atmosphere and that very personal touch that makes it so special.

The Space

A gigantic view, a private terrace, and two new apartments.

Each apartment has a very well-equipped kitchen, a must for any foodie! Here life is deliberately aesthetic, simple, and peaceful. The two apartments reflect this with a minimalist interior design which gives the gigantic view the main focus. With floor-to-ceiling windows, the room is bathed in light, and on sunny days relax on the terrace and become one with the panorama.  Alongside the minimalistic style, homely comfort is another defining factor, with extremely comfortable beds and seating areas. There are just two apartments, neither of which has TVs – the view offers more than enough drama.

Location

Set above the spa town of Merano and overlooking the entire Adige Valley. The many hiking trails form networks along the Texlgruppe mountain range.  Give in to the magic of the mountains and discover waterfalls, lakes, and hidden mountain-hut restaurants for some excellent authentic South Tyrolean cuisine including traditional dishes such as Kaasknödl (cheese dumplings).  Close by you will find the 12th-century Tyrol Castle with great exhibitions and events. The Meran 2000 ski resort is only a 15-minute drive away.
This area is a foodies' heaven, there are many excellent restaurants in the area. Check out the Plinius Insiders Guide to find the best places to go!
