Little Gem No. 083 | Small Villa in Citrus Garden
A hidden haven in the heart of Carovigno’s old town — where barefoot mornings in the garden meet summer nights in the piazza.
Tucked away behind a quiet stone façade in Carovigno’s Centro Storico lies a true Puglian rarity: a villa with its own private citrus garden. This is a house for aesthetes, romantics, and lovers of the slow life. Step outside and you’re in the thick of village life — trattorias, bars, and cobbled lanes buzzing with local energy. Step back inside and you’re in a peaceful oasis, shaded by orange and medlar trees and serenaded by birdsong.
The Home
The villa is composed of two connected buildings, each with its own charm, joined by a sun-drenched terrace and lush garden. The main house spans three floors: a ground-floor lounge with rich red terrazzo flooring, a kitchen with open fireplace and mural-lined dining space, and a bedroom with en-suite bathroom and balcony overlooking the trees. Across the terrace, the second house — affectionately called Atelier a Mare — holds a second bedroom with private bathroom and views over the garden. An outdoor shower and terrace complete the summer dream.
The home is lovingly curated with vintage finds, local ceramics, tropical murals, and carefully chosen textiles. There's a sense of soul and softness in every room.

The Garden
The garden is the heart of it all. Lemon and loquat trees cast dappled light across hammocks and stone benches. A restored antique fountain offers the perfect spot for cooling your feet or sipping a spritz at golden hour. An outdoor kitchen with barbecue makes long al fresco dinners easy and inviting.
Carovigno | Puglia’s Quiet Charmer
Just a few miles inland from the Adriatic, Carovigno is the kind of town you stumble upon and then wonder why it isn't on every travel list. Perched on a gentle hill, it’s a quietly captivating place where everyday life unfolds at a slower, more deliberate rhythm. Laundry flutters between faded palazzi, espresso bars hum with locals swapping stories, and swallows swoop through the golden air at dusk.
The town’s crown jewel is the Castello Dentice di Frasso, a beautifully preserved castle with sweeping views toward the olive-strewn plains and the sea beyond. Around it, a maze of whitewashed alleys twist through the historic center, revealing hidden courtyards, tiny trattorias, and the kind of timeless southern charm that feels entirely unforced.
Carovigno is surrounded by a patchwork of ancient olive groves and is just ten minutes from some of Puglia’s most unspoiled beaches. It’s less polished than Ostuni, and that’s exactly its appeal — raw, authentic, and still beautifully under the radar. The kind of place where the food is honest, the sunsets are gold, and life tastes a little sweeter.
