Born and raised in Puglia, Giuseppe spent his youth surrounded by olive trees, cicadas, and the scent of the sea. After years in Milan and abroad, his longing for the soulful simplicity of southern Italy drew him home — and Borgo Gallana was born.
This isn’t just a holiday stay. It’s a return to roots, a celebration of memory, and an homage to the land and lifestyle that shaped him. With designer Andrew Trotter — renowned for his minimal yet soulful interpretations of Italian architecture — Giuseppe transformed tradition into a contemporary sanctuary. Borgo Gallana is Puglia as it was, and as it should be: simple, elegant, and deeply connected to place.
The Space
Set amidst centuries-old olive trees and fruit orchards, Borgo Gallana is a peaceful hideaway for those seeking slow living, refined rusticity, and understated luxury. Each of the three homes is independent, with its own private garden, outdoor lounge, and alfresco kitchen complete with a built-in bath and shower.
A shared swimming pool lies at the heart of the estate, surrounded by Mediterranean landscaping designed by artists Cosimo Terlizzi and Damien Modolo. Their vision — to restore and celebrate native, often-forgotten plants — has created a sensory garden of color, scent, and texture that honours the region’s biodiversity.

All three homes are filled with light, their arched windows and vaulted ceilings drawing the outdoors in. Furnishings are minimal and natural — vintage pieces, linen textiles, and handmade ceramics — allowing the architecture and landscape to speak.
