N° 100 | 18th-Century Winery
Yvonne and Morten Heuing’s villa is a love letter to Piedmont, a region they hold close to their hearts. Morten, a wine professional who had long admired the area’s vineyards, and Yvonne, a lover of Italian culture, began their search for a property here in 2019. They wanted something truly unique – a historic estate they could bring back to life and make their own. After years of looking, they finally stumbled upon this stunning, long-forgotten wine estate. Within minutes, they knew they’d found the one. With breathtaking views and a rich heritage, this villa was the perfect spot to create an unforgettable retreat in the heart of Piedmont’s food and wine paradise.
The Space
This grand villa comfortably accommodates up to 13 guests across seven exquisite bedrooms and five bathrooms. With two sophisticated living rooms featuring high-end Scandinavian furnishings, a modern kitchen with marble countertops, and a spacious dining room with panoramic views, this property is designed to immerse guests in comfort and style. A large, ozone-filtered pool serves as the outdoor centerpiece, surrounded by lush gardens, vine-covered pergolas, and extensive lounge areas. The grounds also include a petanque court, basketball hoop, and an outdoor kitchen complete with a BBQ and wood-fired pizza oven.
*The house has natural airco. What is meant by this, is that the environment and the structure of the building offer cooling. The meter-thick walls, and the use of the shutters, makes the house a very pleasant place, throughout spring, summer, and fall.
Outdoors
The expansive garden offers numerous spaces to relax, dine, and socialize. Shaded terraces, a poolside lounge, and garden nooks invite you to enjoy the pristine surroundings, whether it’s for a morning coffee, an al fresco lunch, or a quiet evening under the stars. The outdoor kitchen and BBQ area are ideal for festive gatherings, making it easy to entertain while overlooking the hills.
The Surroundings
Located in the heart of Piedmont, a UNESCO World Heritage region, the villa is a short distance from the town of Nizza Monferrato, famed for its exceptional food and wine scene. Nearby villages, including Calamandrana and Canelli, offer quaint streets lined with local shops, cafes, and trattorias. Known for its slow-food movement and legendary truffles, the region also features world-class vineyards producing Barbera, Barolo, and Barbaresco wines. The villa’s proximity to Milan, Turin, and the Ligurian coast makes it an excellent base for exploring Northern Italy’s cultural and culinary treasures.
