N° 009 | Award-winning olive farm
Back to nature, in luxury
This is a magical place that brings the urban soul back to nature. Making this place available to everyone is a generous gift, a small act of love.
After twenty years of producing award-winning olive oil, the Olive farm has opened its doors to those who would like to stay in a working organic olive grove with stunning views. A place to enjoy the scenery, the silence, and a wealth of culinary specialties.
The philosophy is being one-with-nature and encouraging a slower type of living by finding time to read, swim, meditate, and go trekking, as well as finding small farmers’ markets and local artisans and source ingredients for dinner (or have it prepared for you). There is a large selection of fruit trees at the estate; plums, nuts, apples, pomegranates, berries, and lemons (depending on what's in season), and are for guests to enjoy. Other activities on offer are (award-winning!) olive oil tastings, massages, yoga lessons, hiking, or cooking.
Hospitality
The property – for the time being – has one villa and a one-bedroom apartment located in the olive grove that along with a swimming pool. A third house which is at the highest point of the property, will be added, in a year or so.
The estate offers complete privacy to relax, dine, swim, and catch up with family and friends. A stylish space to share memories and adventures in a breathtaking spot. Yet you are part of a bigger project which makes this stay such an extraordinary experience. This organic olive oil farm has five super-friendly, full-time staff members taking care of the land; pruning, and grooming for the harvest to come. The same five young men, along with the owners, are happy to assist you with any request you might have.
The Space
The villa has three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and a spacious living and dining area inside and out. Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, one is on the top floor. The views are stunning from each angle of the house, either over Civita di Bagnoregio or the canyons. The kitchen is fully equipped, and a cook is at your disposal to prepare local and Italian dishes.
The suite is in a separate building, in a small house with views as stunning as those of the Villa. It has one bedroom, with an adjacent bathroom, a living area, and a small kitchen. It also has a terrace overlooking the Calanchi, the Canyons of the Valley. The two houses are connected by a short path, so the two houses can accommodate one party of six people in the villa and two in the Suite.
Design
The interior design of the houses has been kept airy and minimal, to emphasize the surrounding nature and not be distracted by overwhelming decor. This truly enhances the spectacular setting. Natural elements, such as wood, earth, and stone are in harmony with the raw, rocky land, etched by canyons and shaded by intense greenery.
Art
The contemporary art in the houses is very impressive. It is a small part of the collection that belongs to the owners. It is mainly, but not only, works of Italian artists and are related to the landscape or to the property for specific reasons. Many of them have to do with nature, in its different forms and the different emotions it awakens and provokes. Some of the artists have created site-specific projects. Some of the artists who came here have then made pieces of art that have been reproduced in limited editions and are exposed in the houses and can be purchased.
Relax
A saltwater swimming pool is set in the middle of the olive grove, overlooking the other side of the valley. A beautiful setting, like a modern-day Eden.
The Environment
There is definitely magic in the canyons surrounding the Etruscan hill-top village of Civita di Bagnoregio, where, as the name suggests, kings came to take a bath in ancient times. Rediscover a light and slow way of traveling, exploring hidden places, which the Lazio region still offers. Be surprised by an unexpected and under-explored piece of the world and the friendliness of local inhabitants long thought disappeared. Reclaim time & reconnect.
